The same annual dividend can arrive on different schedules
The annual dividend divided by 12 is an average for comparing cash flow. It neither predicts payment dates nor promises equal monthly payments. This calculator estimates the total assuming the annual yield stays unchanged; it does not look up individual payment schedules.
An investment of 30,000 monetary units at a 4% annual yield gives a pre-tax annual dividend of 1,200 and a monthly average of 100. The hypothetical schedules below split that same total equally at different frequencies. They are not payment terms for any product and exclude taxes, costs and currency changes.
| Frequency | Per payment | Annual total |
|---|---|---|
| 12 monthly payments | 100 | 1,200 |
| 4 quarterly payments | 300 | 1,200 |
| 1 annual payment | 1,200 | 1,200 |
A quarterly payment of 300 still leaves months with no payment even though the monthly average is 100. Compare living expenses with actual payment dates and after-tax receipts as well as the annual total. An announced dividend does not guarantee the same payment in future periods.
